Holiday Season Preparation

We have one week until our next vacation to the USA! I don't think I have ever planed a trip this time of year because there are already so many events on in the lead up to Christmas (and 5 family birthdays!) but this trip will be extra special as I have always wanted to go to New York in the winter and see all the beautiful festive decorations.

So because I am not only preparing for a trip but am also trying to get things in order for Christmas (as we arrive back in Australia not long before Christmas), I thought I would post my little checklist that I have created to get through this week.

As a child, I always remember that in the lead up to Christmas my family would have a working bee day where we would all help clean and tidy our home and decorate for Christmas. Our home hosted atleast 12-15 people some years and so everyone got in and helped with the excitement of the festive season encouraging us as we went. Dad would take on the outdoors - mowing the lawn and washing the car. Mum would be washing sheets, towels, preparing bathrooms for our guests and my sister and I would be tidying our rooms and decorating the Christmas tree.

There would be many people reading this that may think 'why do all this for one day of the year!?' but it was more about taking pride in the importance of opening a home to guests and creating a clean, organised atmosphere in the most chaotic time of year.

I have attached a blank PDF version below that could be used to create your own pre-holiday checklist.

Enjoy! xx
